At least 20 prebuilts will be available by Monday (12/28/09). They may be available sooner. If you aren't on the list, sign up--that's the basis for who gets one next. These are no longer ones I'm building. They're coming from the usual place again. That also means no more festive USB cables.
If you are wondering why it says BERSTER TECHNOLOGIES LLC when making a purchase on the store, it's because that's the company responsible for building the units. We're working to get that changed so as to not confuse you all.
---------------------- For Your Information ------------------------ I realize that it may not be immediately clear to newcomers on this site with regard to where you can pick up a XIM2 (AKA XIM360). There is currently a supply issue with the required controllers that work with this chip. If you want more information on the hardware and history of XIM click here. Because of this supply issue, there have been problems acquiring controllers to modify and sell to those who would like to purchase. More controllers and chips are en route and soon there will be more units for sale.
In light of the situation, a decision has been reached to offer a XIM modification service if you already have a compatible controller. I've attached an image that tells you how to determine if your controller is compatible. Keep in mind that if your controller is version -005 it will work and you do not need to open it up. If you have a -006 controller it MAY be compatible. You need to open it up and look. All other versions will not work.
If anyone posts about this topic without reading this, YOU WILL BE BANNED AND KICKED IN THE FACE.
Not really, just...somebody send them to this thread please?
--------------- UPDATES AND INFORMATION ABOUT SHIPPING ---------------- Just in from ShippingGuy:
"To our XIM2 customers: Our focus has always been customer satisfaction and product quality. We know our success is dependent on our customer’s satisfaction and we continually strive to exceed expectations. We had refined our process so that any order received prior to 4:30 p.m. PDT would ship the same day and met that objective 100% of the time. Unfortunately, the configuration of the Xbox 360 wired controller was recently changed and our board does not fit the new configuration. We have been trying desperately to source the correct controllers. ShippingGuy just spent a week in China trying to find an ongoing supply. We hope to have the sourcing issue resolved soon so that once again, we can fulfill any order we receive. Until the supply issues is resolved, we will continue to source where we can, build the units, then post the available quantity on eBay. We will update this post once the supply problem is resolved. Thanks for your support."
There ya have it. Locking the other thread. Conversation continues here I guess.
UPDATE (11/23/2009) Spoke with Steve this afternoon. Controllers are on the way and more units are estimated to be ready within a week. Quantities unknown.
UPDATE (11/30/2009) Spoke with Steve again this afternoon. XIM2 units will be available this week. Keep an eye out on the store:
I will post again if/when I know a specific date and time for availability.
UPDATE (12/02/2009) Spoke with Steve this afternoon (seeing a trend here?). Controllers are scheduled to arrive Friday. Backordered items will be fulfilled prior to any new orders. Expect the opportunity to be able to order a unit soon (~3 days). In the mean time, the order page should be up soon (by clicking the SHOP link up in the right hand corner) if you have a compatible wired controller for the modification service.
UPDATE (12/03/2009) STORE IS LIVE FOR MODIFICATION SERVICE. As you can see the Prebuilts are still SOLD OUT. Don't try to order one of these as you'll create a HUGE headache for yourself and us!
UPDATE (12/08/2009) There will be 8 prebuilts available on Wednesday, December 9th. If you're looking to purchase one, you need to reply to this thread to get your name on the waiting list ASAP(I hadn't intended to use the thread this way, but it works out nicely): http://xim360.com/community/index.php?topic=3943.0
NOTE: You must reply to that thread by 11 AM PST (GMT+8) to be eligible. It's been there for several days now and there's really no excuse to not have replied if you're really interested. Hopefully most of you have already done so.
We decided to do a lottery of sorts and leave it to luck as to who will get the chance to buy them. If you're one of the 8 people selected by 12 PM PST (GMT+8) you will receive a PM with further instructions on how to purchase. Please don't ask about the details as we're still sorting out exactly how to do it (i.e. password protected purchase page, e-mail invoices, etc.)
Thanks and good luck!
--------------- Controller Modification Procedure ---------------- Some of you are curious as to how the modification procedure is going to work. It's quite simple:
1) You purchase the modification service through the order page. Once you've paid you'll receive an e-mail confirmation with the address to send your controller (I don't remember it off the top of my head). I recommend USPS Priority Mail if you live in the U.S. It's cheaper and often quicker. Internationally, I would suggest a courier like UPS, FedEx, and maybe DHL. Find a cheap, but not dreadfully slow service. Keep in mind that your local mail courier may offer the best prices and fastest transit.
2) You pack your controller into a box and ship it. Note that you are responsible for any charges associated with shipping it. The purchase price only covers return shipping costs.
3) Once received, your controller will have a XIM2 chip installed. It will then be stress tested to esnure that it will work once returned to you.
4) The controller will be shipped back to your PayPal shipping address.
5) You play with your XIM and dominate your opponents.
Please allow 2-3 business days after your controller has been received for installation. It likely won't take this long, but I know that many of you are impatient and will ask incessantly if you don't have any time frame. So assume 2-3 days and hope for something faster.

Well that's good that they're still working to source out the right controllers.......I'm waiting patiently........maybe I'll check out the new XFPS 4.0 Speed and do a comparison test when I can finally get my hands on a XIM 2.....I'm sure the XIM 2 is far superior equipment. I NEED 1 BAD!!!

im still waiting too. For the xfps 4.0 speed it's sounds like they copied the xim2. They have now a configuration tool that looks very similar. Here look at the manual http://www.xcm.cc/xfps_4.0_speed_manual.htm

how xcm interfaces with the 360 is far inferior to what we've done with xim2. So just imagine what we've got up our sleeves for the next rev. But yea, they ripped us. What do you expect?

From the looks of it XIM1 will be superior to the XFPS 4.0 speed, it still doesn't have deadzone support.

OMGsus, I hope you've got a good way to lock down the XIM3. I hate to see what these vultures do to other peoples creative ideas! Anyways, looking forward to seeing what you give us next! Thanks for the hard work!

USPS tracking is ATROCIOUS. Plus they hand it off to your local mail courier once it's in your country and you kinda have to track down the transition tracking number (because a lot of times it'll change). Generally you get something tracked with USPS and it doesn't even say delivered until a day or two after you've already got whatever.
