NEW PROBLEM: I have a new problem now, when I aim my y axis is much faster then my x axis. I used ubernoober and nickstudy's configs are they move extremely slow. I am playing cod4 with mx518. Also when i move my mouse slowly it moves my screen alot, while when i attempt to do a quicker jerk it barly moves my screen. normal?

You have Vista or XP 64-bit?  You need to read the instructions dude.  Apparently some XIMs are shipping with just a CD and no instructions.  Hrm...

**IMPORTANT NOTE FOR VISTA x64 USERS**
Microsoft has employed the ability for vendors to enable a protection scheme against unsigned drivers. Since the XIM 360 driver we provide is not signed, you may need to start Vista up in the “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” mode depending on your system’s vendor/policy settings. To do this, start up Vista and press F8 at the advanced boot options dialog and select the “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” option. This will allow you to install unsigned drivers properly for the current session only. For more information on this function and how to make these changes permanent, see the msdn tech article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb530195.aspx#digitalsigskernmodules_topic8.

You'll need to uninstall the software, then restart your computer with those instructions and reinstall.

I was going to start my own post but this will do. First off....WOW, this thing is great. Way better than I expected because i used to use a frag joy or whatever for the original x-box and this thing would eat it for breakfast. Great job guys on a product well done.

I did have a few issues installing though. I read the Bible and many other posts while waiting for it to get here and I didnt see this mentioned anywhere. I could have overlooked it but who knows. Anyway, I followd the instructions and all and when windows popped up found new hardware after I plugged both cables in I said cancel. I figured the installer would handle it. Wrong. I kept getting the 401 error code no matter what I did. After 3 install attempts I gave in and after the XIM installer closed windows poped up saying hey dummy let me install this thing for you. SO i let it and just chose find best drivers. It did and then my XIM worked, yay!

Then I edited the default config, played around some, renamed it and moved it to the desktop. Bad mistake. I guess you have to leave the config in the XIM directory and just shortcut to the config. That is what I found out anyway if i moved the config then I got a 407 error.

Just a kudos to the team and a couple issues I had and how I resolved them. If what I did was a big error, then let me know the easier way to do it. It all works now, just making sure I didn't miss something

Vudoo and I just remedied this situation, and it is something that new users may encounter every so often.

The reason he was having problems was due to a file that has significant impact on XIM performance.  This file is called XIMCalibrate.ini and is located in your XIM installation directory (typically %systemroot%/Program Files/XIM 360).

Here's a comparison between the two:

Quote from: bad version
[Calibration]
OffsetRX=-1537
OffsetRY=-1007
OffsetLX=-2088
OffsetLY=-353
OffsetRT=0
OffsetLT=0
RatioRX=2.46137332916
RatioRY=1.44622123241
RatioLX=2.08312773705
RatioLY=1.54709565639
RatioRT=1.
RatioLT=1.14104044437

Following a recalibration this is what he got:

Quote from: good version
[Calibration]
OffsetRX=-2165
OffsetRY=982
OffsetLX=-471
OffsetLY=27
OffsetRT=0
OffsetLT=0
RatioRX=1.60387480259
RatioRY=1.42852509022
RatioLX=1.51671600342
RatioLY=1.7204208374
RatioRT=1.
RatioLT=1.13861691952

You'll notice how the RatioRX and RatioLX have changed significantly.  You want these four Ratio values to be fairly similar to one another (+/- 0.3 deviation from the mean).  If they're not then you need to run XIMCalibrate again to fix the problem.  IF for some reason these values do not change, then there is likely a hardware issue or something that you yourself won't be able to fix.  Thankfully all pre-builts come with a warranty should this happen.

Just an FYI for those of you out there who are new to XIM and those members who may not be aware of this integral part of the XIM software.

I got my xim2 today, at around 2 PM, and at first I was like this thing sucks, thats because I didn't calibrate it correctly and my y-axis was flying all over. But then tweak helped me on irc, and this device plays ALMOST like 90% like PC like. Its well worth it. I now have a good setting on cod4, tommorow time for halo 3. Cheesy

Thanks to tweak for helping me out.

So, I'm trying to migrate to Win7 64bit and ran into some issues.  I've had this XIM2 running on an XP machine for awhile.  Thought I would post here instead of starting another 64 bit help thread.

I tried to install without the signed driver fix.  Since then I've tried installing after using:

"bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS"

and

"bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON"        (do either of these persist after a reboot?)

I used these at seperate times, with reboots in between.  (for anyone that doesn't know, right click on the 'command prompt' icon and click 'run as administrator')  Every time the installation hangs when attempting to calibrate.  When I plug both controller USBs into my computer it comes up with something like XBox controller for windows or something like that.  Don't know if that's important.

Currently I can run XIMCalibrate.exe, but it does nothing, just hangs.  Did the same thing in installation, I 'x'ed out of it.
When I run XIMDebugger.exe with either 'stress' or 'test' I get a 401 error.
When I run XIM.exe it runs, looks like it's running (just like it did on the XP machine, but won't do anything in game.  And the controller thumb sticks act like the software is not running as well.

Screen shot of the error when I try to update the driver:

I may have really messed some driver stuff up since I've been reading posts and trying quite a few things.  Or maybe I'm just missing a simple step.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you go into Device Manager, with XIM plugged in, do you see it listed in the list with a yellow triangle and exclamation point?  If so, I would right click on that and see if you can uninstall the driver.  Then uninstall all the associated XIM software so we can start from scratch.  You'll want to then restart your computer and hit F8 until you get the Vista boot menu.  At that point you can select the last option from the list which will disable digital driver signing.  Then install your stuff again, and plug in both controller cables when prompted.

In order to play you will always have to boot this way.  There is a program called Ready Driver Plus, that can automate the process for you:

Game on.

Well!  It was a simple step.  Just had to uninstall the current driver before install.  I should have known/thought of that.  Sorry to have to bug you about something so simple.

Thanks tweak!  Or should I say "Mr. Help-desk"?
