Got this message today from XCM regarding the cross battle adapter and the disconnect issue.

"I got another response from the engineers today, it seems they used a chip in the device that is not 100% compatible with all ps3 consoles, they said about 20-30% of the consoles out there do not like the chip they used and they are working on getting a new chip that will work with all the consoles. Once again this is part of the process since they do not send out thousands of units for beta testing, they do in house beta testing which is limited to the equipment they have on hand. So in other words a new fixed version should be coming in about 3 weeks and if you have trouble with yours disconnecting then you'll need to wait until the new units arrive at the respective retailers and then send yours back to be replaced with the newer version which should not have this problem. So just enjoy it the best you can for now until the new units arrive and then the problem will be solved once and for all. It seems alot of people had disconnect issues because of the settings posted on the mainpage, so at least that helped solve a few peoples problems. But anyhow stay tuned for more info as it becomes available."

-Hope springs eternal... but this is a step in the right direction

Well, it looks like XCM will be releasing an updated version of their product (surprise, surprise).
It's a shame that that a firmware update (as TeamXCM suggested) will probably not be possible.
I hope the retailer I got mine from (TotalConsole) will honour the exchange even though I don't have the original packaging or receipt anymore.  Actually, I'm on the fence as to whether I'll even bother since the problem isn't very prevailant with me.

Thanks for the update, Sikpup.

**EDIT just for a rant.
You know, the more I think about it, the more it really bothers me...  Particularly this part:

they do not send out thousands of units for beta testing, they do in house beta testing which is limited to the equipment they have on hand.
So they release a product on platforms without testing that it works on them?!?  Are you kidding me?!?
Sikpup, you do realize that therefore you and I ARE the beta testers here, right?  Not to mention Cameltoe, who couldn't get it working to any benefit.  I suspect our cheques got lost in the mail.

Anyway, please continue keeping these boards up to date with the news. Smiley

Yeah, that pissed me off too.  I payed $50.00 to be a beta tester.  Then I payed $10.00 to ship it back.  I should get a refund of my shipping costs.  Still, if this works I will be happy.

Good news, Sikpup!!!
The new Adapter is on the way.  What's better is that it will be more expensive than the last one, so we'll have to pay an extra $20 for it.
That's totally fair, isn't it!?!
It's nice to see them charge extra money for the special feature of "not broken".

Here's a quote from TeamXCM
Quote
XCM is set to release the XCM Cross Battle Adapter Plus edition this next week. It has a few changes and will be exactly what people have been waiting for since the release of the first unit.

The changes are this unit now supports rumble and is compatible with all Playstation 3 / PS3 consoles and will not have disconnect issues. The MSRP will be $20 higher at $69.99. And will be available at www.Extreme-Mods.com for ordering within the next few days.

Ugh. And so the price difference for the diagonal dampen setting climbs to $200.

Have any of you guys tried Killzone 2 on the XIM2?  I wanna know how it runs.  I can't play it with a controller.

Hiya ps3 teammates, Cheesy.

I really would like to know if somebody with xim1 and xim2 can really tell the true difference between them...I'm interested really on Killzone2, but anygame will do.

Is there anybody in that situation, which has both.?

Thanks!

Check out this response I got on their forums:

LOL, I called it! XBA-PRO! Someone owes me some donuts somewhere. This is the M.O. of this company.

I am sorry, but it seems like we are soon due for a XBA-PRO or something like that, that I will have to shell out another $50.00 for if I want one that actually works. Here was the response to my prediction coming true:

Look if you have a problem with XCM then by all means contact them directly and let them know. This is a place to help people with problems or answer general questions. The attitude in here really needs to change, this is not a place to vent your frustration. I've been told a fixed version of the original is in the works right now, so until i hear otherwise that is the story. You can contact XCM directly at their website www.xcm.cc Otherwise please keep the condesending comments to yourself, this place is to be constructive, any other posts condemning XCM will be deleted and the user who posts them may be banned.

here was my response - waiting for the ban btw

Condescending would be me stating a false truth or some other libelous comment. This was a statement of fact. Condescending is how you treat some of the posters in this forum.

lol, the forum mod over there is a douche

All the more reason to steer people away from XCM. I appreciate that the XFPS can be used without a PC, but given the trouble they have with their products, buying a cheap laptop is almost guaranteed to be the better choice. I'd be amazed that XCM hasn't yet released another XFPS if I didn't suspect there isn't much they can do to increase performance without doubling the price to meet their preferred profit bracket.

Unbelievable!  I can't believe they banned you.  And what's more is that he deleted a full page of posts--strategically ending with a thank you message I posted so it looks like the topic ended on a positive note.  That's ridiculous!

That guy had a lot of nerve calling you condescending when you were kind enough to be a paying beta tester.

I got banned because I spoke the truth.  The truth hurts.  Really though, that Mod over there is a total douche-bag.  As for xcm, if the new adapter works, I will be happy, end of story.  I do have a working wired controller that I would rather use than the ds3 so the rumble will be a nice feature.

Was their lag created by the adapter? Did anyone get it to work?  If so when was the concole bought?  Was the concol an early model?
